Schools - The Company
It is widely held that there is a link between the quality of the
environment in which our nations children are required to study,
and their ultimate academic achievement.
As the quality of the environment is enhanced, then so too is educational
attainment, behavioural characteristics and indeed teacher and pupil
morale.
To this end, dedicated companies have been set up by two of the
country's leading companies involved in PFI in Education, under
the generic banner of Transform Schools, to meet the needs of improving
the existing fabric, maintaining buildings through time and delivering
core services to allow the academic staff the freedom to concentrate
on the delivery of education.
Balfour Beatty Capital Projects Ltd, the division of Balfour Beatty
plc that procures and manages PFI opportunities throughout all sectors
of the PFI arena, together with Innisfree Ltd, the leading infrastructure
investment group in the UK investing in PFI and PPP projects, have
jointly set up Transform Schools, in order to deliver large, complex
education PFI projects within the UK.
These two market leaders provide a strong blend of financial expertise
and technical excellence, matched with considerable expertise in
managing logistically demanding projects, that enables academic
development to be realised under the PFI banner. The Companies under
the Transform Schools banner, operate as Special Purpose Companies
and specifically comprise.
The
first Transform Schools companies were formed in October 2000 to
mobilise and deliver the Stoke Schools PFI project. The success
that is evident on this complex and unique project flows from the
focus upon continuous improvement of the service delivery, the flexibility
to accommodate change that is essential with the Education arena,
and the determination to operate in partnership with the stakeholders.
This
philosophy, supported by the specialised expertise that has evolved,
has been the springboard from which to develop the maturing procedures
and thinking across subsequent Education PFI projects under the
Transform umbrella.
Transform
Schools currently manages the delivery of construction upgrade/rebuild,
together with fabric maintenance, energy provisions, and hard and
soft FM services, on almost 25% of the total number of schools across
the country that are currently being improved and maintained via
the PFI process.
The
ongoing experiences gained are reflected back into the bid teams
to ensure that subsequent PFI opportunities benefit from contemporary
practice and best value.
