Football Action two years on...
Great moves have been made for the Football Action development programme in Stoke, since it’s inception in September 2006 the programme has gone city wide reaching all communities across Stoke with fantastic results.
As the demand for the Football Action has grown so has the need for suitable coaches. Part of the ongoing development for young people going through the programme has been to be able to access a level one or two coaching qualification.
The Football Action Tournament was held in October at the Dimensions Leisure centre in Stoke. Youngsters from eight high schools and four primary schools took part in the Football Action Football Tournament this week. Victory was had by Crescent primary School and REACH Academy. A big hit with participating young people who have commented, “The programme is brilliant! It helps me learn new skills and make new friends”
Councillor Debra Gratton Stoke-on-Trent City Council's portfolio holder for Sport & Leisure says "The programme has been a great success for the City and it continues to see growth and improvement, the young people and schools that take part see it as invaluable. We hope to continue to see more young people across the City get involved and share in our success". She enthuses, "Having the added value of support and input from Transform schools and Balfour Beatty Group has helped strengthen our partnerships, it has allowed us to move the programme forward within a nurturing framework and we look forward to continue to work together in years to come."
Craig Fullwood of Transform Stoke said “Football action has been a fantastic programme to watch develop, working within the community is a valuable aspect of our work. We have been able to invest in and make a difference to young peoples lives alongside our partners.
