Bassetlaw Schools shortlisted for arts award

The three year arts strategy for Bassetlaw has been acknowledged by Arts and Business (Midlands).

In order to engage the pupils, staff and public in the development of Transform Schools in Retford, Worksop and Tuxford, a three year arts strategy was devised with County Youth Arts (CYA) as the delivery partner. CYA is a division of Children and Young People's Services at Nottinghamshire County Council, and the support workers were already delivering arts projects throughout the region.

The arts strategy sought to introduce pupils to the skills and expertise of visual artists from their area, to involve them in the creation of visual art projects for their own school, and to inspire them to aim higher in their own artistic endeavours.

The project has been shortlisted in the Young People category of the Jaguar Land Rover Awards for Arts and Business (Midlands), and the winners will be announced at a ceremony in Birmingham Town Hall on 15 October.

Congratulations to all of the Transform Schools (Bassetlaw) team, and best of luck for the awards ceremony.
