Summary
Transform Schools (Stoke), the concession company awarded the 25-year, £107 million contract that embraces the entire schools estate in the City of Stoke-on-Trent. Hard and soft facilities management services will be provided to all the sites. The project reached financial close in October 2000.
Balfour Beatty’s shareholding is 50%. The other 50% stakeholder partner is Innisfree PFI Fund 2. The committed investment total is £5 million, which was invested in autumn 2006.
Project overview
- The project comprises of: 5 special schools, 17 secondary schools, 80 primary schools.
- Facilities management is undertaken by Balfour Beatty WorkPlace (formerly Haden Building Management)
- It is the only Private Finance Initiative project to date that incorporates the entire schools estate within a city.
- The maintenance and whole-life works on all schools, from the date of contract signature, for 25 years.
- Construction work was undertaken by Balfour Beatty Construction and Balfour Kilpatrick (now known as Balfour Beatty Engineering Services).
