Summary
Transform Schools (North Lanarkshire), the concession company awarded the 32-year, £160 million contract to design and build 24 schools in North Lanarkshire, and to provide hard and soft facilities management services to the sites. The project reached financial close in June 2005.
Balfour Beatty's shareholding is 50%. The other 50% shareholder is Innisfree PFI Investment Fund 3. The committed investment total is £8 million, which will be injected after completion of construction in 2008.
Project overview
- Construction of: 3 new secondary schools, 7 primary schools, 7 joint campus primary school facilities, 2 libraries, 1 community centre
- The hard and soft facilities management services have been sub-contracted to Balfour Beatty WorkPlace. The contract includes cleaning, caretaking, security, energy management, lifecycle and routine repairs and maintenance, including grounds maintenance.
- The project is now fully operational
